To Be Continued

I had sent out the leave notice before the last trip, and the manager had replied to ask for a specific date to stop working. I hoped to quit at the end of this month, but it was not the end of a trip and did not align with work shifts. So, I had proposed a flexible week long range.

Then, I had not received a reply from the manager before I started this trip. I was eager to know when would be my last working day, so I checked my email and online roster whenever I was free on the liveaboard ship. The manager emailed me a very nice reference letter, but did not mention when would be my last working day. Also, my name did not appear in the roster after this trip. So, I assumed the last working day was the end of this trip.

With this assumption in mind, it was joyful to work although I had to take the duty as a trip director. Every day was running well, and every tasks were on time. This trip was too easy for me. I started counting down every morning when I woke up. Also, I started saying good bye to colleagues. I even got a few hugs for farewell. When I left the liveaboard ship and watching it getting away, I couldn't help to take a photo of the liveaboard ship.

Finally I got home and opened a bottle of wine for celebration. The bottle of wine had been in the cupboard for a while because I had had a cold. Now, not only I had recovered from the cold, but also I did not have to work for a while. I enjoyed a quiet dinner, sipped my favorite wine, and caught up with friends over the Internet. I was curious who was going to take my shift, so I checked the online roster.

I could not believe my eyes when I saw the roster. I had checked the same roster 30 minutes ago on the way home, but it was changed now. My name appeared in the next trip on the roster! I had one more trip to go! It's to be continued...

The photo is the forecast of the following days. Hopefully, the weather will be fine for the last trip.
